Governor Who's Who

These are the school governors, as at 17 November 2009.

Richard Pelly – Foundation (Diocese) – Chairman of Governors - Tel: 07876 032251

Commodore Royal Navy, Chartered Engineer and Fellow IMarEST; completed 33 years service including a tour as the Marine Engineer Officer of the aircraft carrier, HMS INVINCIBLE. Working with a Trade Association promoting British expertise overseas and as non-executive Chairman of small company in the distribution business.  Treasurer of Friends of Ranelagh School. Interests include mountaineering – expeditions to Hindu Kush, Afghanistan, and, Everest from Tibet – and still rock climbing. Lived in Sunningdale since 1988, Governor since 1992. Two children attended the school.

The Revd H. David Uffindell – Foundation (Ex Officio) – Vice Chairman of Governors

Originally from Hull in East Yorkshire where some of his family still live, David has studied both law and theology. He has worked as a kitchen boy in a Swiss Ski Hotel and as a waiter in a coffee bar. He has had parish jobs in Kingston upon Thames and Tolworth, Surbiton before coming to Sunningdale 11 years ago. David and the Holy Trinity Team (Stephen, James and Gary) take it in turns to lead the Wednesday morning assemblies in school. He really values the growing links between church, school and community. Married to Kathryn (also a lawyer), David has three children: Zoë, Tim and Josh, all of whom are at secondary school now. When not working, David enjoys walking in the park, reading, musical theatre and film.

Sarah Thorpe M.Ed – Staff (Ex officio) - Headteacher

I have worked in education, apart from a brief period with social services since completing my college course in Northumberland. I have taught all age groups from 4-14 and all subjects. However, I specialised in French, ICT and Mathematics. I have previously been a head in three other schools; an infant, junior and a large primary with a nursery class. Any spare time is spent digging in my newly acquired allotment. However, I also enjoy swimming, walking and theatre visits.

Drew Davy – Parent Elected – Chairman of Finance & Resources Committee

I have lived in Sunningdale for six years and have two boys, both at Holy Trinity.  I grew up in Hong Kong and came back to the UK for university.  Since then I have lived in London, Lancashire and Hertfordshire.  I have over fourteen years business experience covering sales, marketing, IT and finance but have recently taken a career break to focus time on family and volunteer work.  As well as a governor I am treasurer for the PTA and a regular ‘attendee’ at the school run.  Aside these school commitments, I am part of the Management Committee at Chobham Rugby Club and a Team Manager in the clubs Minis section.  I also have an interest in a housing charity based in Guatemala and in 2008 I spent several weeks over there building houses for the less privileged.  My interests include rugby, gym and outdoor activities.

 

Julian Crofton - Parent Elected – School Committee

Independent Systems Consultant operating two businesses based in Sunningdale; previously Project Manager in the Burton Group, now Arcadia. Married with three children, two at Holy Trinity and one at Charters. Chairman of the 1st Sunningdale Scout Group. Interests include reading, swimming, cycling and art.

Mark Klincewicz - Foundation (PCC) – School Committee

A resident of Sunningdale for over 16 years, Mark is married to Sue, with one son Luke currently at Holy Trinity. A marketing manager of 17 years with Lenovo [formerly IBM], his previous career includes that of a professional roadie, IT support manager for Touche Ross, and various technical and marketing management roles within HMV and Lotus. Mark, who is Irish, used to be a Thames Valley Special Constable, and an avid supporter of Wimbledon Football Club (now the MK Dons). That said, his allegiance has now switched to AFC Wimbledon! As a keen musician his hobbies include anything musical. He is also keen on anything motoring-related, and is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). The few spare minutes that Mark has each night are spent managing the multitude of websites that he owns and administers, including the Holy Trinity website at holytrinitysunningdale.com.

Terence James Wade – Foundation (PCC) – School Committee

Chartered Engineer, Cambridge degree in engineering and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering Technology, (Formerly the IEE). Project and engineering management with the BBC, BSI, and in Nuclear fusion research (UKAEA/Euratom). Nuclear waste research, San Diego, California. Now retired. Married with two married children, two grandchildren at St David’s C of E primary school in Moreton-in-Marsh. Active member of Holy Trinity church since 2004 when we moved to Sunningdale, my wife’s family’s home. My wife is currently one of the church wardens. Interests: Music and Art.

Martin Edsall - Foundation (PCC) – School Committee

I retired from Shell International Chemicals in 1996. My last role was to manage a major group of Industrial Chemicals on a global basis (excluding the UK). Just prior to retirement I became a Trustee of the then Thames Valley Hospice and in September 1996, the Chairman. I stepped down from this role in October 2004. I am involved with our local Neighbourhood Watch scheme. I am a sidesman for the 8am Communion service at Holy Trinity and have worshipped at the church for many years. I am married with two children and six grandchildren and enjoy golf, gardening,music, bridge and travelling.

Sue Mossman - Foundation (Diocese) - Finance & Resources Committee

Originally from North East Scotland, I have lived in Sunningdale since 2005, after several years abroad with my husband, Mike, in Qatar, Colombia, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi and around the UK. When in Windsor I worked at PMRF School as the Finance Officer and have recently worked part-time for a local Accountant then in the Finance Dept. of a small business. In 2006 I completed a second degree through the Open University which included a Certificate in Accountancy. We have two sons who are both now working. I am a member of Holy Trinity Church and sing with the choir there. I was a keen hockey player but now enjoy golf, tennis and skiing.

Caroline Fraser - Parent Elected – Finance and Resources Committee

After much travelling in my early years, I spent much of my childhood in Guildford. I moved into Sunningdale in 1994 and was married to Tom in Holy Trinity Church in 1995. A year later we moved to Windlesham where we now live with our 3 children, Robert, Jamie and Andrew who all currently attend Holy Trinity School. I ran the PTA for 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed becoming more involved in the school’s social and fundraising activities. I have been teaching for 13 years and currently I teach Business Studies at Charters School in Sunningdale. My interests, when time allows, include skiing and theatre visits.

Grant Thompson – Local Authority Elected – Chairman of School Committee

My two boys Daniel and Luke were previously at Holy Trinity during which time I completed six years as a parent governor. I recently remarried to Lisa (Murray) who’s daughter Amy is at Holy Trinity. I run my own company offering aviation logistics and continuity planning in the transport sector with a team of 45 staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my last term as a governor and I want to be actively involved in adding value to this superb school. My outside interests include golf, gardening and DIY.

 

Stewart Dickson - Foundation (PCC) – School Committee

Stewart attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned into The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment. He spent the next 6 serving around the world, including operational deployments to Iraq and Kosovo. Subsequently he was lured by the bright lights of the City into investment banking where he has advised on a wide range of public company transactions including flotations and takeovers. Stewart has a degree from University College London and an MBA from Henley Business School. 

Stewart moved to Sunningdale in 2007 and recently married Faye. His interests include skiing, endurance events, golf and his beloved Morgan 4/4.

 

Valerie Lees - Foundation (PCC) - School Committee

I grew up in Leicester, did a degree an Biological Sciences(Genetics) degree in Birmingham, and then spent 14 years living in London and working in IT, in the financial services sector in the City.  I eventually moved to BA, where I slightly changed direction to work in Project and Program management. Working for BA also enabled me to indulge my passions for sailing and travel, before moving to Sunningdale in 2000.  Since then, I married Andy, and have had 2 children who are currently at Holy Trinity School . I am a regular attendee at the Holy Trinity Church 11am service and have been a crèche and GEMS leader.   I spent 3 years on the Pre-School committee, and am currently doing Financial Admin for 1st Sunningdale Beavers. I am also working a few hours a week at the CMI in the village. 

I hope that being a school Governor will enable me to apply the skills I acquired during my many years in business to the benefit of the projects closest to my heart -  my children, family, church and community.

 

Brian North - Foundation (PCC) - Finance Committee

Chartered Accountant from 1956 to 2005. National service in the Royal Navy. Born in Manchester but lived 28 years in Nottingham before moving to the South. Held  a number of finance positions across a wide range of business sectors including finance director of the Burton Group and finally joint managing director. In 1983 formed Brian North Associates a small Business and Finance Consultancy which included advising on Stock Exchange flotations, fund raising etc. Held a number of  chairmanships in public and private companies, retired in 2004. Married to Sally we have two sons and four grandchildren. I joined the congregation at Holy Trinity eighteen months ago and attend 8.0am communion. I am a Trustee of Sunningdale Ladies Golf Club, I enjoy golf, cricket, reading, travel and Harlequins Rugby Club

 

Stacey Harding - Staff Governor - Teacher

As a child I lived and was educated in Windsor before going to university in Worcester, where I did a four year teaching degree. After completing my degree, I returned to Windsor and worked for four years in a school in Surrey. In September 2008 I joined Holy Trinity Primary School as the year 6 teacher. Currently I am PE coordinator, and I am also leading the school through the process to achieve Healthy Schools status.

Outside of school I'm keen on sport but rarely have time to take part myself, except for a regular aerobics class, therefore I'm more of an armchair sports fan! I watch all Formula One Grand Prix races throughout the season and am also keen on cricket, gymnastics and athletics.

Lorna Downs – Clerk to the Governing Body

Following several years working in banking I embarked on my most challenging but rewarding career as a full time mum. My connection with Holy Trinity began when my eldest daughter started school in 1991; she was followed by her two sisters. I was an active member of the PTA before commencing as a learning support assistant and clerk to governors in March 1999, transferring to an administrative role shortly after. My interests include swimming, dog walking and following Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.
