Equal Opportunities
We strive to develop the potential of each child, regardless of gender, race or ability. We believe that, from an early age, children need to acquire and develop a wide range of skills involving problem solving and the use of different tools and materials. We give children equal opportunities to participate in all school activities.
Assessment of children’s attainment is carried out in a number of other ways. The majority of the assessment will be of a continuous nature undertaken by the class teacher through observation, appraisal and class teaching. Parents are kept informed of their children's progress through school reports, parent teacher evenings and notes made by the class teacher.
Schools are required to arrange the testing of children at the end of four defined Key Stages of their education, only the first two apply to Primary Schools. These tests are known as SATs (Standard Assessment Tasks) They support nationwide monitoring of the effectiveness of our schools and provide parents with the means of comparison with their child’s attainment against national standards. The results for children at the end of Key Stage One and Two can be found later in the prospectus.
