The Church of England
Holy Trinity CE Primary School celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 1992. The site was given to the Trustees by St John's College, Cambridge in 1842. The original building, which looks onto Church Road, is now the Hall and Dining Room and an ITC suite. Another Victorian building was built in 1883 and since then the school has been extended, in 1929, 1960, 1998 and 2003.
The school is closely associated with the Parish Church of Holy Trinity, Sunningdale. The children visit the Church at least twice a term and for major festivals. Although Holy Trinity School does not limit its pupils to Church members, the Christian religion is a major influence in the life of the school.
As an ‘aided Church of England School’ we carry a responsibility to promote a Christian ethos and character and to develop a specifically Church of England style in worship as well as a Christian emphasis in Religious Education.
In promoting the ethos of a Church School we respect the dignity of each and every individual in the school and we ensure that the school worship performs an important function in developing a sense of school community.
We recognise that parents with many different personal attitudes to the Christian faith choose to send their children to this school. Without imposing, we want to be true to the belief in God on which our school is founded and also foster a sense of personal purpose in the schools’ relationships with our families, church life and the local community.
