Behaviour

Our behaviour policy has more to do with recognising and celebrating good behaviour than being preoccupied with bad behaviour. It promotes good relationships and builds self esteem. It also has everything to do with God’s Order, Love, Grace and Forgiveness which is at the heart of the life and work of the school.

Pupils are guided by our ‘Golden Rules’. The staff in the school reward good behaviour with attention and praise. We believe in the phrase ‘catch them being good’. Everything from words of encouragement through written comments to merit points, reward stickers, pencils and Golden Time are regularly being used.  Golden Time is a special time when pupils are allowed to choose their own activities.

It is our practice to try to identify when behaviour problems are likely to arise and where possible, try and divert or modify pupil’s behaviour before there is a need to discipline them.

Children are made aware of the consequences if they choose not to follow the Golden Rules in school. These are fully explained to the children at the beginning of each term. One consequence is to lose Golden Time, which rarely occurs.

Our behaviour policy can be requested by parents.

Golden Bags of treasure can also be awarded to those children who have helped other children without being asked.

Each child is also a member of one of our houses; Earth Air, Fire or Water. Year 6 children  are voted as House Captains at the beginning of the year.
