Curriculum
Taught lesson time is 21½ hours weekly for Early Years and 23¾ hours weekly for Key Stage 2 excluding registration, collective worship, lunchtime and playtime.
The curriculum for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 includes the nine subjects of the National Curriculum and RE. Children whose 5th birthday is before 1st September follow the Foundation Curriculum.
Each child receives teaching according to their age, ability and needs. The majority of teaching is by the child's class teacher, although at certain times a member of staff with a special knowledge or interest will teach a group. Teaching methods vary according to what is most appropriate; they include class teaching, ability group teaching and individual teaching.
The basic national curriculum in primary school consists of the core subjects; English, Mathematics, Science, RE and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and the foundation subjects of Geography, History, PE, Art, Music, DT and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship.
